It is an 8-in, 2-out converter used for data acquisition. I was hoping I could use it on my bench for electronics work, but I didn't expect the software to be included, which it wasn't!
Why is it that with old computer stuff, that the main box or cards, cables, manuals, software seems to nearly always go in separate directions? And it is often stuff that is absolutely useless for anything else. Do people really say to themselves: "I am going to throw the interface hard away over here... and give the floppies to my friend... and lock the manual in my basement... "? I guess I am dumbfounded because it seems obvious that since these items are 1. (usually) only used together, and 2. the pieces may not be usable without the various bits. Yes, I am ranting, but this always irks me so badly.
Anyway, I know that MacLab boxes had software programs called Chart and Scope, which I can't find anywhere. I probably need older versions, like 1-3. Does anybody know where I can find them? The software must be on a school FTP somewhere, but the names are so general that searching is difficult. If you can help, please do!
| Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-05-28 08:40:19 No idea, but I am interested in the software as well. The only 68K Data Acquisition software I have is a digital copy of Labview for the National Instruments boards I have.
| Posted by: BarnacleGrim on 2010-05-28 12:09:43 Cool! I got the Labview software with my Quadra 700, but there was a big gaping hole where the NuBus card should be. Wish I could have helped you with MacLab.

Why is it that with old computer stuff, that the main box or cards, cables, manuals, software seems to nearly always go in separate directions? A common reason is the following sequence: The last person with knowledge about the setup leaves a lab/school/company. The setup might still be in use, until something breaks or the setup has to be moved. Afterwards no one is able to redo the wiring and everything will be discarded with proper waste separation.
Sorry, no idea how to avoid this.

AbandonWare ROCKS!!! :approve:
| Posted by: CJ_Miller on 2011-01-22 11:43:56 Found it!
A few months back I bought two new MacLab 2e units, complete with manuals, cables, and software. But then I was getting ready to set it up and I lost the floppies. Aiiee! Cleaning up I just found them, and contrary to my fears they had not been crushed or corrupted by events here in the duration. The two disks install the "Chart" and "Scope" applications, I think its version 3.5 of the software. It runs on my 475 but I haven't connected the hardware yet. Hopefully it will work with my older MacLab/8. Too many things going on here now but I will update about it soon.
| Posted by: toshi on 2019-10-26 00:23:02 Dear all!
It is obvious that this topic is some years old now, but recently i got a Maclab/2e unit by myself but off course with no software and documentation at all. Maybe somebody is able to help? In this case, a PM is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot !
