Daystar 80Mhz PDS RAM question
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2010-05-27 18:39:36
What is the most RAM anyone stuck into a Daystar Powerpro 80 Mhz with the 4 x 72 PIN SIMM slots? I know you can do 128MB, but can you use anything larger then 32MB SIMMs? It would be kind of funny having a Quadra 950 with 256MB onboard and another 256MB on the Daystar for 512MB total on OS 8.1.

I thought these were ROM-limited as to how much RAM they can address. I had a PowerCard I put on an LC575 board. That board had 128MB RAM and used it all in '040 mode, but when the PowerCard was enabled (PPC601 mode) it could only address 32MB - no way around it.

We are talking about one of these correct? :

Mine has the 1MB cache module (works in 68K mode too) and both the 68K and PPC side seen all the RAM I had installed. I did have to rig up a heatsink and fan.
