| British keyboard + System 3.2 issue |
Posted by: james_w on 2015-05-28 11:14:07 Hello chaps,
I've recently added an HD20 to my 512k and have installed 3.2 in order to do AppleTalk networking etc.
The only issue is that System 3.2 doesn't appear to be compatible with my British keyboards - can anyone point me in the direction of either a British install of 3.2 or at least some kind of keyboard layout files I can add to the US system I've got installed?
Googling and searching the usual well-known places has turned up nothing.

Posted by: james_w on 2015-05-28 11:27:37 @tanuki65 thanks - will do
Got the version slightly wrong - 3.3 - I think it gets upgraded from 3.2 -> 3.3 by the network software installer. Finder 5.5. If that helps at all.

Err. Localizer or Localiser. It will sort out your hash and pound signs. Thanks - will use that to search too.
Bizarrely the bottom row of keys is also one key out of sync - eg I have to press the CTRL key for spaces!

In the end I found "Localizer" on a disk in this set: http://macintoshgarden.org/games/boston-computer-society-disk-images
All working now 🙂

Posted by: mactjaap on 2017-07-26 13:30:13 Sorry to revive this post...but how to use Localizer if you only have a hard disk with System 6.0.8. It ask to insert a disk you want to localize. But.....it will try to eject the disk and that doesn't work. There must be a way to do this on a hard disk only system?

Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2017-07-26 14:54:14 Odd... I have never used localiser before, but it shouldn't do that.
Have you tried another disk image? There's one on the mac gui from 1992. Maybe it'll work better with 6.0.8? The one James used worked fine for system 3.2... no idea if it works on system 6.

Posted by: mactjaap on 2017-07-26 14:56:39 Aha. That could be the problem! Too old. Could you post a link to the version you mean?
|
Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2017-07-27 02:22:03 There you go: http://macgui.com/downloads/?file_id=26685&keywords=localizer
You need to register (if you haven't already) in order to download it.

Posted by: mactjaap on 2017-07-28 03:30:09 Thanks for the link! This version of a localizer is a Control Panel. Works perfect on System 6 and also on my System 7.6 ( although I don't need it there).
Downloaded as a CPT file, which you can unshrink with Stuffit expander.
