Can we look into 'enabling' tapatalk for the forums which will enable native browsing of forums?

I don't know anything about iPhones, since I haven't used one for any more than a minute at the Apple Store, though doesn't the iPhone's version of Safari render pages (including forums) exactly the same as Safari on the Mac?

Yes, but it's one of the most annoying things ever with all the pinching and zooming you have to do.

I have to agree, since I have an iTouch and browse this forum sometimes, and it is annoying (the browsing, not the iTouch).

You guys chose to browse a classic mac site with new age telephones.

Exactly!

What's with all the iPhone hub bub lately?

Well, it's only one of the most popular mobile phones in the world...

Tapatalk supports phpbb3 so it should be easy to do.

Also, the client supports most smartphones - android, nokia, blackberries, and winmo AFAIK.

If ya'll need help implementing that iPhone theme I can help you out. I'm pretty good with phpbb

The original suggestion wasn't a theme, it was a third party service that accesses our database.

While it's a lot of pinching and zooming, the iPhone does have the best phone web browser out there. Like... without a doubt, so I don't see any reason why it's really necessary to do this. If you're into that sort of thing, MobileSafari can store passwords, as I recall, and/or you can make a 68kMLA home page shortcut.

The forum reading software that was linked to, so far, only one person has said that they use it. If we were to do theming at all, I'd prefer a no-images, simple table theme that might work with, say, netscape or IE3 on a 68k Mac, or work really well with a phone browser, or work well with a text-based web browser like links or lynx.

We should retheme the forum like the old snitz board.

"We"??

I browse the forum on my craptacular Nokia 6300 occasionally. Nothing remotely unusable about it, except for the screen space wasted by huge sigs and misuse of the "Quote" button *COUGH*

Posted by: Mars478 on 2010-03-10 07:12:24
By "We" I mean the community!

I plead not guilty to unecessary quoting in this thread.

Posted by: tyrannis on 2010-03-10 09:33:53
Then turn off sigs. Is that so hard?

Posted by: Cory5412 on 2010-03-10 14:46:49
I think what Bunsen is getting at is that long signatures aren't the problem. Massive, block quoting. It's unnecessary, often inappropriate, and it can get to this extreme level that's just... disgusting.

Why do I need to know all four paragraphs of what was said in the above post so I can comment on one line right in the middle? It'd be easier just to go "as far as [the topic of line 3] goes," or just to quote the words to which you're referring.

I browse the forum quite regularly on my Droid Eris without much difficulty at all.

Here's another vote for the current forum working just peachily on my iPhone.

Is it that hard to just scroll a little bit more when people mis-use the quote option? And why can't the mod's just edit the quotes or remove them entirely and add a little note like they do with other things?

I'm sorry but this is getting out of hand on how communistic this place is getting.

I mostly browse this website on 1024X768 and 1280X800 displays. Scrolling a little bit more isn't that hard of a thing to do.
