Color Classic II FPU speeds?
Posted by: mraroid on 2015-05-21 16:37:52
Hi folks....

I just bought a MC68882FN33A FPU for my Color Classic II logic board.  I think the "33" at the end of the Motorola model number means that it runs at 33Mhz. (?)

After I bought it, I read this wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_68881

And now I wonder if a version of the above FPU was available in 40Mhz or 50Mhz..  And if so, would it even run that fast anyway in my Color Classic II logic board?

It will only run at the clock speed the motherboard is set to.

33 MHz is all you can get.

40 or 50 MHz chips will work but run at 33 MHz.
