OMG I actually have the RARE Apple II bag..

What can I say, I've found a whole new reason to dig through all my Apple collections again.

My brother in law sent me a dvd movie he found on the net called "A brief history of Apple Computer". I finally watched the whole thing and in the middle of the movie there was a guy that had the serial #005 ish II off the line given to him by one of the Steve's... He commented that his bag had the Apple logo embossed in it but the one he had did not have the bite taken out of it and said it must be a mistake or prototype since all the others he's seen had the proper embossing on it.

I've done a bit more research and indeed the brown bags out there have the Apple with the bite out of it.... I didn't think anything of it, but after digging in my basement lab I looked at MY brown bag. It matches the one in the video. FULL unbitten APPLE!! Very cool.

I received mine with an Ebay purchase 4 or 5 years ago with an Apple III+ and a B&H Apple II+ which were rare enough for me already. Let alone the bag apparently is special.

Anyone else have one of these?

I know what you are talking about and some people don't know if the bitten or unbitten are rare. i have see both kinds on ebay and the prices are some what the same (a little more for the unbitten).

That's strange. I never noticed that the apple was "upside-down" when you carry the bag by its handles.

I have one of the early "unbitten" bags, too. There must have been a run of at least a couple hundred, because my Apple][ is a late '77 rev. 2 motherboard with color killer and 6-color hires. We all bought bags because it was the only item in the Apple catalog under $100! 😉

The Apple is right-side up when the owner unzips the bag, but upside down for the rest of the world when carrying. Same as PowerBooks' logos were right-side up for the owner when he opened the lid and upside down to the rest of the world until the G4s. With the metal 'books, the emphasis shifted from the owner to showing the hoi polloi what you have.
