What should i run on a classic? as i am going to be buying one soon,
I am puting a zip-100 a cd burner and a hard drive, in it, the hard drive is 4 gb so i have to find a smaller one as 7 will not see all 4, I think i will shove the 4 gb in my 575 and then the 2 gb in the scsi thing i have, but,
what should i run on a classic macintosh
and on an Lc575?
It is very hard finding porgrams for older mac's I am on ebay alot in the past weeks, and I am looking at some coppys of 6 and 7, but I think i can make the disks my self, also , I made a bunch of 7 disks and they wont boot any help there? I made them on a power macintosh 7600 and they seem fine, should i try to make them for a second time?

A Classic can handle lots of older B&W games that "died" when System 7 came out.
The 575 can handle many earlier CD-ROM games like Zork and Myst, as well as old favourites liek F/A-18 Hornet 2 and Sim City 2000.
It's also quite good for some older games released with colour versions, like Vette! and Civ 1.

For a Mac Classic, I recommend installing both System 6.0.8 and System 7.0.1, along with System Picker to switch between the two. Both OS'es can be downloaded freely from the Apple site, so no need to look for those:
System 6
System 7.0
Since the Classic has a 1.44M SuperDrive, you can write those images to a disk using any modern floppy-equipped PC or Mac. It's probably easier to do on a Mac, because it should have all the software required to deal with MacBinary files, StuffIt archives and DiskCopy images. On a PC, I highly recommend using an emulator such as Mini vMac, along with HFVExplorer to deal with HFS disks and images. This combination allows you to 'preprocess' vintage Mac software in various ways before actually placing it on a real Mac. I can post more details about working with Mac files on a PC if you want.
As for other applications, you can find a lot of it still floating around on the 'net. For obvious reasons, I can't give you any specific links here, other than the official Apple download site. A bit of resourcefulness goes a long way, if you want to find more.

ok thanks where would i get this system picker? Are you talking about start up disk?
But what porgrams would you say i should run,
I am very new to the 64k macs, I have a 575 and a qutra that needs reapir, but thats it
so yea, but i better go to school know

I've been collecting freeware and shareware 1980s stuff on disk images for use in Mini vMac (mentioned earlier) that you might want to try out:

Some old classics are there. "Cairo Shootout" is one of the great 1980s shareware titles. You could play the original Macintosh versions of "Daleks" and "Core Wars," too.
