| Quadra 605, IIsi, and 68000 brethren |
Posted by: tyrannis on 2009-09-06 19:43:37 Goodwill ComputerWorks - Austin decided to resume selling older hardware. The result was an afternoon of 68k conquest:
Quadra 605
LC III
IIsi
Atari 1040 STE unused - CIB
Atari Mega 1
I'm a GEM partisan from back in the day, so having a little TOS at the desk now is a big deal. I really didn't expect to find a $10 like-new Atari 1040 STE in there; it was a pleasant surprise. These plus a Mac arcade game box set, an IBM WordPad (Palm III) and a Commodore 1541-II drive cost only sixty-seven worthless American dollars.

Posted by: redrouteone on 2009-09-07 12:32:33 Hey when were you there? I was there on Saturday and saw those items. I thought about picking up the Atari ST, but decided against it.

Posted by: tyrannis on 2009-09-07 17:53:06 I picked them up on Sunday. Someone should go and get the LC II, LC, WGS 6150, Classic, and SE that I didn't have room for; I'm lucky my girlfriend isn't shunning me as it is, and those others would have caused problems. I can't believe you didn't take the ST - why did you pass on it? Did you look inside? The cords are all coiled in the original wrap - it's never been powered-on...

Posted by: redrouteone on 2009-09-07 22:19:43 Mostly it is because I have too much clutter in the house and I don't have a good place to set it up.
I figured I would let another collector give it a good home, instead of just leaving it sitting on my bowling bag like my Apple IIe.
I am encouraged that they are selling vintage equipment again.

Posted by: Redjack on 2009-09-08 15:19:23 I was there yesterday and two weeks ago (visited my bro)! Last time, I got a IIci but decided against the IIsi and the LCIII, glad they went to good homes. When I was there Yesterday I saw that they still had an LCIII, WGS 6150, LC, Color Classic, and SE on sale for $10 a pop in the back. Go Austin Computer Works!

Posted by: tyrannis on 2009-09-08 17:36:37 I didn't see the Color Classic when I was there; maybe they brought it out after I cleared the shelf. I remember a couple years ago I saw a Color Classic set there for the bargain price of $150. I guess the store may be under new management.

:O 8-o :?:

Posted by: redrouteone on 2009-09-09 09:48:22 If they have a color classic, I think I will make space for that. Actually I have a use for it. I may swing by this afternoon and see if it is still there.

I WOULD HAVE TAKEN EM ALL! ESPECIALLY THE SE AND CC! xx( Someone save them! Damn NY Salvation Army. You don't have no computers for me 🙁

Posted by: redrouteone on 2009-09-09 12:28:18 I went back today. I think you confused the Classic for a Color Classic. Everything else listed is still there.
I would like a classic mac, but I want one I can add ethernet to. I considered the SE, but frankly the case had too much yellowing.
I did consider picking up the Apple II monitor and a second floppy for my IIe. Those have been there for weeks, so I figure I'll wait on those.

I would have picked them up but I don't go into Austin very often.
