Performa 6400 with goodies inside!

So I visited a Salvation Army thrift store in PA that I tend to frequent. Usually in their electronics section in the basement only have monitors and printers. So this time when I saw a Mac tower I was excited! It was a Performa 6400 tower which seemed to be in good condition. I looked on the back to find a S-Video and Composite video input card installed.

So I wondered what other upgrades were inside. I recognized that the back motherboard would easily slide out if a few screws were unscrewed. So with a pair of keys I got the screws loosened and pulled out the motherboard for a quick look. I was happy to find a Sonnet G3 400MHz upgrade card with L1 and L2 cache inside!

I quickly put everything back and went upstairs to purchase it for all of $10! I took it home and it had a clean install of Mac OS 8.1 with a 3GB hard drive, the CD and floppy drive seemed to work fine. Very speedy machine indeed, even if it only had 32MB of RAM. 😀

Looks like Orson Welles in Citizen Kane to me.

Do I win a prize? Say a Sonnet G3? 😛
