Power Mac G4 Cube
Posted by: bizzle on 2009-07-29 15:42:32
A guy at work had this and didn't have any use for it.. it's a G4 Cube, 450 MHz, 786MB RAM, 20GB, DVD-ROM, in LIKE NEW condition with the original speakers and discs. I just upgraded it to 1.5GB RAM and put an Airport card in it.. it's reinstalling Tiger now. I'll post some pictures in a bit.

And how much did I pay for it?

Nothing.

I remember using one of these at a Buzzle (yeah, talk about a blast from the past, I actually have a brochure from them that I got the same day that was released a few months before they majorly went belly-up) store in Brisbane back when they were new, I have to say the design certainly hasn't aged, even though its almost 10 years old.

I have two mint and boxed, a 450Mhz and a 500mhz. And the prices have dumped. Like $75 for the 450 and $100 for the 500. Ahhh! These things used to be pretty rare. Oh well. I'm still gonna hang on to mine. Let me know if you wanna sell. Can't have enough Cubes!

I went on a Cube-binge a few years back, and upgraded my 450MHz model with a Dual-G4 running at (IIRC) 1.2GHz. Installed a stronger analog power board, mounted her in one of those larger custom see-through cases, maxed out the RAM, added a beefier AGP graphics board, along with bluetooth, AirPort, etc. etc. etc. Made a really awesome workstation for several years, though now it's getting a bit dusty in my garage. I should set her up as a server or something...

Congrats on finding the Cube! Now just try to resist the urge to keep upgrading.......
