iMac G4 hard drive question
Posted by: Christopher on 2009-07-28 10:46:21
I have replaced the 40GB drive in my iLamp to an 80GB Seagate. Now, when I was swapping drives I noticed the old drive had this white paper taped to the drive. What was the reason for this tape? I didn't put it on the new drive. But it's just been making me wonder what it was for.

Most probably shielding, or a warranty sticker. Pics?

this isn't mine, but I managed to find a picture of what I mean.

under that white paper stuff is the hard drive.

That looks like shielding of some sort.

if it had foil on it, it could be rf shielding, could be electrical insulation, or could be some form of sound damper
