4400 Project

Posted by: joshc on 2009-06-08 08:45:33 Finally got some stuff done on the 4400. So far I have replaced the dead PRAM battery with a new homemade one, which is now placed in an easy accessible spot. The noisy fan has been replaced with a quiet Noctua, and I have also replaced Apple's useless pressed metal heatsink with a very nice blue Zalman one. And for a bit of fun I decided to put a tiny green chip heatsink on the nearby mosfet: Large photos available at my Flickr photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wackymacs/

Posted by: dan_g on 2009-07-09 08:43:15 No overclocking? I remember souping up one of these. There used to be a Japanese guy who had instructions on his page for overclocking almost any Macintosh. With that oversized heatsink overdriving the CPU should be no problems.
