| iMovie for Mac OS 9 |
Posted by: iMac600 on 2009-06-02 08:48:01 I'm currently seeking iMovie for Mac OS 9. Each version up to iMovie 3.0 (the last OS 9 version) was released for free at some point on Apple's website, but the download links don't seem to exist anymore. The later the version the better, but desperate times call for desperate measures, so i'll settle for whatever I can get my hands on.
Cheers.

Posted by: Christopher on 2009-06-02 14:23:00 I have 2.0 from a powermac g4 disk i can nab for you.
Funny thing, iMovie 2 on a powermac g4 dual 450 with 1GB of ram is as fast as my iMac intel is with iMovie 6......

Posted by: iMac600 on 2009-06-02 21:51:11 If anyone has Apple's free internet distributable version of it, or the disc installer to transfer over the web, i'd appreciate it. I can barely scrape together 63c for shipping of a physical disc across the street at the moment, let alone from anywhere else in the world. 😛

Posted by: iMac600 on 2009-06-03 08:01:09 Just for the record, I found a copy of iMovie 1.0.2 for Mac OS 9 on an old disc. Works perfectly from what I can tell.

Posted by: Christopher on 2009-06-03 08:37:03 Are you still needing version 2?

Posted by: Forrest on 2009-06-03 16:33:34 FYI iMovie 3 is OSX only - and it was part of iLife (not free). iMovie 2 is the last version for OS9. I checked my iLife DVD(original) to confirm. More iMovie info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMovie

More iMovie info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMovie iMovie 3 (January 7, 2003) Bundled with all new Macs, also a separate purchase (iLife), later as a free download. Mac OS X.
Correct on the OS X only part though. I made a mistake in thought, thinking iMovie 3 was ported to run on OS 9 when it was actually iMovie 2 ported to run on OS X. Just for the record iMovie 2 still works in Leopard. Very nostalgic.
Christopher: I could probably still use it. Would be handy to have anyway in case iMovie 1.0.2 proves to be a flop.

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2009-06-04 18:07:29 iMovie 3 was terrible. It crashed constantly, had a terrible time recognizing devices, and almost made me give up on Apple software entirely (it was the main reason I bought an iMac six years ago). I bought iLife 04 as soon as it came out to get the updated version.

Posted by: Christopher on 2009-06-05 10:42:29 I sent you 2 as well, but you said you didn't know if it had the effects and such. Did you manage to see if it did?
Coius, how big was your iMovie 2 file?

I sent you 2 as well, but you said you didn't know if it had the effects and such. Did you manage to see if it did? Nope, I haven't booted up the iMac in a few days now. Been way too busy with other things. The file though, weighing in at 986kb puts serious doubts in my mind that this is the complete package. In contrast iMovie 1.0.2 weighs in at 20.1mb compressed.
