Just out of curiosity...

...When I connected to the 'net today and went to the 68kMLA, I got a:

Information:
Your IP address has been permenently banned
message. So I'm currious, what did the IP 66.73.158.91 do to get banned :?:

__________

EDIT: fixed aprox. 7587346598 typos

And yet you still managed to connect. I don't know what happened myself....

I have dial-up. dial-up = dynamic IP. i just yanked the phone cord and plugged it back in and reconnected.

EDIT:

oh, and quinterro: According to your sig, you named your fastest computer "Slug" 😛

Well as you just said, its a dynamic IP, hence any man and his dog who uses your ISP could've had that IP. I ask...is it really that much of an issue as to why that address got banned? I certainly don't know, but in any case, getting a new IP address is simply a case of reconnecting, as you've realised. 😉

I thought dogs weren't allowed on forums??

I guess if you can teach an old dog new tricks (such as how to use a keyboard and mouse), I can't see why not. 😉

It's a running gag with myself. Slug has been everything from a P3-500 to an Athlon64 3700. It makes it easy to pick it out on the network...

Not sure if it's a related issue or not, but for the last two days I have been getting a "can not connect - user has exceeded bandwidth, try again later" message (not those exact words) and couldn't get connected even after several attempts.

Hahahaha, good dog 😀

stevep: Yeah, everyone had that issue, basically we ran out of bandwidth. I'm sure ~tl will explain more when he gets on. 😉

It's not related, see here:

As for the original problem, since it's a shared IP address it was probably used to spam the forums at some point. I've removed it from the banned list, so you shouldn't have more problems with it...
