I was looking for my Original Iris Chests because, back in the day, I’d bent up two custom galvanized steel wortops for them. However, I found a new style in white only at Target . . .
. . . but they wouldn’t order them for me in black. 😛
Actually, that piccie isn't what I saw, the ones I lust after have 2 deep and 2 shallow drawers, ALL FULL WIDTH!
So I went on a Storage Safari! and found the Duo/Powerbook collector’s DREAM-COME-TRUE at Office Max . . .
. . . who didn’t have any of the larger size I was hunting left. :-/
I apologize, they don't have info on the Duo/PowerBook Drawer Stacks up on the site yet. 🙁
So far I’ve tested a 2300c inside the Desktop Project Chest and a 1400c & 3400c in the Project Central Drawers, it’s too bad they don’t have any Info about them online as yet! They have room to store your ‘Books w/ battery sticking out of the bay, so you won’t ruin the batteries! I think a foam spacer would be a good idea so tilting the case/drawer while inserting it in its slot won’t accidentally re-seat the battery.
The notion of hacking a Skeletal PowerBook Drawer is ALMOST irresistible! }🙂
I wound up buying a different size than the Units which support my desk, which worked out far better. The HardTop Wide Chests were perfect to finish off my Desk/Bedroom set! I got two Six Drawer Units (4xsmall & 2xlarge) something like this:but the smaller width & a HardTop and a Three Drawer Unit by mistake . . .
. . . Big Lots owes me $5.00! 😛
Anyways, they extend my corner computer workstation by Two HardTops 4 drawer (actuall 3xlarge & 4xsmall) units high and left the third HardTop one large drawer unit high, ALL ON WHEELS! The low one's a Printer Stand that fits PERFECTLY under the overhang created by my setting the monitor height section over far enough to the left to comfortably fit my old LaserWriter on the Keyboard Height Section. The offset also supports the new 32” HDTV that I’ve been running as a second monitor/desktop extension for HP_Mini!
Where and how can I post piccies!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :?:
Jt: MUUUUCH happier than a pig-in-poop! 😀
p.s. I'll google up some piccie links tomorrow . . . Panera's gonna close w/me inside! 8-o
| Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2009-05-26 09:34:54 . . . back again from Caribou Coffee this time, as promised, with the only image I could find! It looks like a narrower version than the one that holds a Duo very nicely!
Check out their PDF Product catalog . . . from 2007! :🙂
Nice stuff, they must be too busy makin' the stuff to update their site-n-catalog!

| Posted by: beachycove on 2009-05-26 09:49:18 Yes, but did you spot the Pismo in the catalogue about drawers that can hold PowerBooks? I think it must somehow be meant.
The things we get excited about....
I have several of mine on display on a nice pine shelf above my study desk. 26 Macs in the study.... Maybe I need some of those plastic drawers. A perfect fit, did you say?

On both counts, I'd say!

| Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2009-05-26 10:12:40 . . . looks like they've got a larger size that just might hold a Pizmo! 8-o
I think it even shows the type I got for the more reasonably sized Duos/PowerBooks in my Collection. 😉

| Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2009-05-27 11:16:22 . . . unless you count out the Paladin Keyboard I threw into the top slot, I bumped some Duo Frames back into a less sexy drawer unit. I just had to get the Paladin Keyboard out of its ZipLock bag inside of in one of my color coded IKEA storage boxes. It used to be low in the stack of boxes, sandwiched between two thick sheets of eggcrate foam padding . . .
. . . now I can play with it whenever I want to again! :b&w:
This storage option is simply AMAZING! Even a 160 fits in the larger size drawers/boxes/carrying cases. 😎
Sadly, the PB100 requires one of the larger slots. A 2300c just barely fits, the lid closes fine, but it bows up just enough that it's not as easy to slide into the slot as the thinner lidded Grayscale Duos.

Pictures! We need pictures! I'd love to, but I've got nowhere to upload them. Is the iDisk still available? I tried to check it out, but they've got something new, it's supposedly Windows compatible, and I need that for WiFi uploading!
Otherwise, I'm setting myself up for living my wildest fantasy of an OS 9.2 world at home (unconnected to the net) in the same way I was living out my Quadra era fantasies when I first enlisted in the MLA and doing my work on the G-4.
It's unbelievable, when I first saw Apple Reps demo the PowerBook Duo System at a NYMUG meeting, I believed that I'd NEVER be able to afford such a wonderful system . . . and now I've got a freakin' STACK of 'em and an assortment of other Laptop Luxuries that I never could have afforded back in the day!
Much less imagine the luxury of being able to Hack 'em to pieces! }🙂
Do we host images here? Gimme a link to the guidelines if we do, please. I'm too busy and waaay too groggy from my new meds to be able to search for anything this week.
I need a HowTo in the worst way . . . :I

| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-05-28 06:45:03 iDisk is still available, but its a part of MobileMe, which like .mac, which it replaced, you need to pay for.
Personally I just use ImageShack to upload photos. Slow, but it does the job. Then post the url on here, with img tags, like this:
)
Here's an example, I'm going to use my forum avatar, you can click the Quote or Edit button (being a fellow mod 😉 ) and see how I've done it:

| Posted by: John8520 on 2009-05-28 07:16:23 There's also tinypic (http://tinypic.com/) not slow at all, and does the exact same thing imageshack does. Only lots faster. Loooots faster.
| Posted by: Christopher on 2009-05-28 07:50:40 I use flickr for all my photo hosting.
