I have it connected directly to the network, via StyleWriter EtherTalk adapter, and all the classic macs can see and use it just fine. However, I'd like to try and fiddle around with it with a PC (Windows XP). I've done some Googling and found a program called Print66, which will take a StyleWriter and serve it up via LPR. However, I want to avoid connecting the printer directly to a computer, due to physical inconvenience, and some how set up a computer that would bridge the EtherTalk adapter, to an LPR queue. Is this possible by any means?

The document is somewhat dated, but the techniques are transferrable to newer versions of OS X. Others have worked on getting the StyleWriter 1500 to work with OS X and you should still be prepared for a lot of wrestling. Even if you get it working you will still be dependent on a Mac OS X box providing a print queue for the StyleWriter, so why not reserve one of your vintage Macs for the role using Print66 and a PostScript RIP?

so why not reserve one of your vintage Macs for the role using Print66 and a PostScript RIP? I would be more than willing to do that, but I want to avoid connecting the printer directly to the Print66 machine via serial cable. Rather, I would like the Print66 server to bridge the EtherTalk connection, to an LPR queue. So far, I have not seen anyway to do this. I didn't see it in the link you posted either.

There was StyleWriter driver that worked with ghostscript, it even talked AppleTalk to it. I found "lpstyl" which is just that, except no AppleTalk.
I've tried dozens different configuration settings in Print66, with no success. 🙁
