The good news?
She has 3 Macs she's looking to get rid of. An LC575, Performa 6200 and an Indigo iMac (slot load)
The bad news?
I have no car. What I can take would depend on where she lives, as it would involve catching buses, and possibly walking a fair way, and changing buses. 😛
Hmm, we will see....
| Posted by: Unknown_K on 2009-03-25 22:53:06 The 6200 is the only one that is easy to walk away with and not kill your back.
| Posted by: Mike Richardson on 2009-03-26 05:13:14 Your best bet is to take the 6200 in a backpack and then choose between the LC 575 or the iMac for your lap.
Not sure how rare LC 575s are out there. Might be better to take than the iMac.
Don't ditch the 6200; although it has a Road Apple board, you can always slide it out and replace it with a much better one.
| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-03-26 05:22:44 Bit of an update...after contemplating the logistics of making several bus runs out there to grab the stuff, I got an email from her. Apparently she actually lives a bit out of town, and is passing through in a couple of weeks, and will be dropping the stuff off then. 🙂 She also mentioned she's got a fair bit of software, including copies of the Mac OS and AppleWorks. Its going to be good. 🙂

I was going to suggest you make multiple trips (that's what I would do) but sounds like the problem has solved itself. Luckily I have a car, and will be making a 4 hour round trip tomorrow to rescue a Plus 🙂
| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-04-06 22:55:51 Bit of an update on this...the big day is Friday! 🙂 *gets all excited like a little kid on Christmas Eve*
| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-04-09 15:50:27 Hmm, the big day is today. 🙂 Hopefully within the next hour. 🙂 Hmm..... 🙂
| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-04-09 21:10:34 So I got the stuff. 🙂
The good news?
- I got 3 Macs. One of which works (the 6200 board in 5260 case, after some elbow grease)
- I got 4 LC PDS ethernet cards, and plenty of parts
- I got an external SCSI hard drive (size unknown as of now) and a Colour OneScanner 600/27, as well as some PhoneNet connectors, and 3 AppleDesign Keyboards and ADB Mouse II's
The bad news?
- The "Indigo G3" and "LC575" don't exist. Oh well, still a good haul 🙂
- At time of receipt, all 3 Macs were having issues. i got the 5260 booting, with the 6200 mobo, but I haven't tended to the 6200 yet. The LCII seems to have a dead PSU...when you power the machine up and down it makes some weird whistling noises I've never before heard from a Macintosh.
Anyway, now for the stuff:
- Macintosh Performa 5260, 32 MB of RAM (2 16MB 72 pin SIMMs), 4GB Western Digital HDD (presumed dead...at the moment), 24x SCSI CD-ROM (Apple ROM'd) :O , LC PDS ethernet card
- Macintosh Performa 6200, 8MB RAM, 1.6GB HDD, pretty much a plain stocko 6200, in box but used, with an LC PDS ethernet card
- Macintosh LC II, seems to have 6MB of RAM, 40MB HDD, LC PDS ethernet card
- Apple Multiple Scan 15" AV display
- Apple Macintosh Colour Display (14")
- Apple Colour OneScanner 600/27
- 1 external hard disk drive in 5.25" enclosure, size unknown
- 3 lots of AppleDesign Keyboards and ADB Mouse II's, one in box (but used)
- 2 PhoneNet connectors
- 1 PlainTalk mic
- 1 Apple TV card, loose
- 1 LC PDS Ethernet card, in ESD bag
- 1 set of System 7.1 floppy disks for a Macintosh LC II
- All the documentation that would've come with a brand new Macintosh LC II, manuals, packing list, rego card (with the bit you fill in and send to Apple missing, obviously 😛 ), etc
- 1 "Getting Started with Macintosh Computers" VHS tape
And I think thats all for now...some pics for your viewing pleasure. 😉

Unhook the speaker and try again.
If the noises are gone, then you have an LC II with bad caps.
| Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-04-11 01:58:55 i fired up the LCII again today, no whistling, nothing. Unfortunately I get the idea it could be the mobo. 🙁 Oh well, I'll have to wait till I'm home next (end of term, in June) to have a look at it, since thats where all my other LCs are.
Anyway, I had a bit of a play around with the Performas today, and I found that the 5260 board boots when its connected to a HDD with a good System Folder. However, it seems that like my other 5260 board at home, the damn SCSI bus is blown! 🙁 I wonder if its an issue with these machines, perhaps? One thing I've done though is transfer my good logic board and hard drive over to the 6200 shell...I thought it was a bit of a waste having the ugly 5260 on display in my room, in all its yellow glory, when this 6200 shell is in good, original condition, with very little yellowing. Look here. And yes, I have decided to downgrade to System 7.5.5, since its all good and retro, and stuff. 😉 By the way, if anyone's curious as to why the 6200 has a CD-ROM eject button in that pic, and doesn't have one in the pic I took yesterday, thats because I found the button rolling around in one of the boxes and decided to put it in its rightful place. 😉
