PCI to PCMCIA for Classic OS?
Posted by: Gil on 2009-03-18 16:16:58
Has anyone ever manufactured such an item? I'm looking to plug a PCI card into a few of my Macs (anywhere from OS 7.5 to 9) that will allow me to plug a PCMCIA card into it. I've seen these cards out there, but none of them seem to have classic mac compatibility. :-/

I think you need a driver to use those (for the card chipset), and like alot of things they didn't bother to make a mac version?

I have one and it works under OS X with no external drives needed... Of course, whatever you plug into it needs drivers.

I vaguely recall vague rumours that adapters with Ricoh chipsets returned good results, without supplemental drivers. However the recollection is so vague that I haven't been game to splurge on one to try out. As others point out, your PCMCIA cards will require their own drivers, and whatever hoodwinking and chicanery is necessary to install them on a desktop machine.

What brand/model is yours, Christopher?
