| Help needed upgrading MacTCP from 2.0.4 to 2.0.6 |
Posted by: Gary_W on 2009-03-17 20:20:44 Ok, I am trying to update MacTCP on my SE. I am trying to run the 2.0.6 updater but it fails with "An unrecoverable error occurred while verifying resource DRVR 22 (".ipp") in the file MacTCP on Hard Disk"
From the accompanying text file:
"The applications: "MacTCP 2.0.4 to 2.0.6 Patch" and "MacTCP Admin 2.0.6 Patch" are ResCompare resource patching applications. Applying the appropriate patch to a COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL ("virgin") MacTCP or MacTCP Admin control panel will upgrade your copy to version 2.0.6." What the heck is an "original" or "virgin" copy? Any hints for me on what to do?
Thanks!

What the heck is an "original" or "virgin" copy? Any hints for me on what to do? Download the installation disks for 2.0.4. An original or virgin copy is one that has not be adulterated.

why don`t u just use v2.1? That's what I want to do. 2.1 is a patch to 2.06, which is a patch to 2.04, no?
This is making me nuts. I don't know what I did to "adulterate" 2.04! Can someone explain what this means and why it should effect upgrading in the first place!?
Thanks!

Posted by: Charlieman on 2009-03-19 12:28:19 Patching requires a version of MacTCP that has never been run (ie settings modified in control panel mode). Configuring MacTCP modifies the resources sufficiently that it cannot be patched. A good place to find MacTCP 2.0.6 is in the System 7.5.3 distribution from Apple. PM me if you are still stuck.
