| New Mac Mini |
Posted by: jkoci on 2009-02-16 04:36:05 After alot of thought and a brief consideration of Ubuntu I went to a local Apple Store and made a decided to pickup a Mac Mini after trying it out at the store. It fits my needs well since I have a nice display already with a built in USB hub. I went for the 2ghz model with a 2gb ram upgrade.

I was going to wait but when I read about the possibility of it getting an Atom cpu I decided to buy one now. I wonder if it will end up more like a netbook as far as it's capabilities.

Posted by: Cory5412 on 2009-02-18 08:25:43 I suspect that if the mini were to get an Atom CPU it would be a dual core atom, and that it would be hooked to the nVidia GeForce 9400m chipset, much like the new macbook. It might even get DDR3 ram, and it would basically be an nvidia ion system, but in a bigger box.
My hope is that the mini would get updated with a real CPU and that geForce 9400m chipset, but we'll see. It just seems like the Macs are less and less important to Apple each year as their auxiliary businesses grow faster than the Mac does.
Anyway, the best bet is usually just to get what you need when you need it -- There's always something on the horizon, that you can have in 5 years when it's cheap. [😉] ]'>
