| Performa 5400 board in LC 630 |
Posted by: Richard on 2009-01-05 16:40:42 I recently acquired a Performa 5400 motherboard. Would it work in a 630, or a 6200/6300?

See sig I did both of those. I was unable to find any reports of 5400/5500 boards in 630s, only other combinations. It would feel a little strange sliding a PCI motherboard into a 68k hence I made the topic.

Posted by: LCGuy on 2009-01-06 21:55:18 It will work, but you'll need to either hack in a 3.3v regulator, or use a power supply from a Performa 6360.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2009-01-07 17:59:30 The Power Colour Classic site is probably the best resource for this hack - see there the differences between using a 630 and 5400 board in a CC, and deduce from that what you need to do to the 630. Essentially, (from memory) what LCGuy said.
Of course, if it fits, the 5400's PS will work.

Posted by: jroger on 2009-01-23 09:59:15 Hello,
Here is my powermacs motherboard/chassis experience:
5500 <==> 5400 OK
5300 <==> 5200 OK
5200/5300 <==> 5400/5500 Fits but doesn't work
(note: theses experiences did not damage any hardware)
LC630 is a 68K mac, I don't think putting a 5400 motherboard in it will work.

5200/5300 <==> 5400/5500 Fits but doesn't work(note: theses experiences did not damage any hardware) These did work for me. I think it was a 5400 board in a 5260, and it worked OK.
