| Sonnet Crecendo G3 Nubus |
Posted by: System7 on 2009-01-01 09:06:03 It has a nice home in my 6100 now. However, the 6100 is such a heat trap it freezes about after 2 hours due to the heat.
Time for a fan I guess. I have a Pentium 1 Size fan that I could wedge in there.
Oddly, the sonnet does not have a G3/300 sticker on it. It just says Sonnet Tech 1998.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2009-01-02 05:01:36 7.5.x was often unstable, heat or no. Did you end up using the fan?

Posted by: System7 on 2009-01-02 06:41:05 No, 7.6.1 fixed the issues.

Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2009-01-02 17:52:06 My Sonnet NuBus G3/240 certainly overheated. I bought it brand new and ended up sending it back for another one because it became such a problem with freezing.
Once I got the new one, I removed the expansion cover on the back and installed a little fan which I ran off of the CD-ROM power connector. It has worked fine since. I highly recommend at least removing the expansion cover if you don't have the AV card.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2009-01-04 07:37:14 I understand the later (faster) Sonnet G3s ran quite a bit cooler, ironically
