Posted by: tmtomh on 2008-12-28 09:09:49 Anyone experiencing difficulty loading 68kmla of late? Over the last couple of days I've been having trouble, for hours at a time.

Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-12-28 10:01:54 Yup, I'm having trouble too, and on the IRC last night there was some discussion about it.

Posted by: QuadSix50 on 2008-12-28 10:11:25 So what was the issue?

Posted by: Cory5412 on 2008-12-28 10:12:01 It's nothing too terribly out of the ordinary, we're hosted on somebody's personal server if I remember correctly, and that server may be having some capacity, bandwidth or other similar issues. The biggest piece of advice in these times is to let tom know via PM, and to just ride it out.

Posted by: ~tl on 2008-12-28 10:29:32 Hmm, yeah, I noticed it was a bit slow earlier. I'll get in touch with my host...

Posted by: Christopher on 2008-12-28 10:41:01 Last night Camino(on my mac) and FireFox(windows) both timed out.

Posted by: benjgvps on 2008-12-28 12:15:17 Couldn't get on at all last night and a bit of the day yesterday, though it is back to normal right now...

Posted by: Cory5412 on 2008-12-28 16:48:17 You could make a note of when it was and send a PM.. later on.
Quite honestly there's not that much that we (as the moderators) can do at the time of a problem, except to note it for later on and say "oops, sorry about that."

Posted by: Mike Richardson on 2008-12-28 18:09:42 I'll host it for free if the current server is inadequate.
I have spare capacity on a managed server located in Chicago, IL. Current uptime is 166 days. This server hosts some advertising networks - downtime means loss of revenue for my clients, so there would be no downtime issues.
Hosting company is WiredTree. The server is managed 24/7/365 w/SLA.
Specifications:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2 x 3 GHz, 6 MB Cache, 1333 MHz Bus)
2 GB DDR2 ECC (Error Correcting)
2 x 250 GB RAID 1 - immediate recovery from hardware failure, increased read speeds
250 GB Backup Drive - incremental nightly/weekly backups. recovery from software failure - filesystem, corruption, etc.
2 TB Monthly Transfer
Fedora Core, Apache, cPanel/WHM
Currently hosts those advertising companies as well as Adopt a Mac.

Posted by: joshc on 2009-01-20 07:29:36 I am having trouble accessing sometimes, and its not my connection. Sometimes the forum will take ages to load and sometimes it just times out.
|
Posted by: iMac600 on 2009-01-20 09:16:36 +1.
Navigating to 68kMLA.net seems to leave the browser trying to load forever, but once it makes the connection it picks up speed dramatically.

Posted by: ~tl on 2009-03-07 03:45:40 Just as an update to this situation. We're on a new server as of last night, so hopefully things will be a little speedier from now on. I appreciate everyone's patience in this matter, trust me, it's been as annoying for me as it has been for all of you guys! I'll keep an eye on things, but hopefully that will be the end of the slow periods.
Cheers all [😱)] ]'>

Posted by: stevep on 2009-03-12 19:41:32 Last evening (Wed) I could not get on the forums at all - kept getting a 500 error "internal server error" screen. The night before I had the same thing but was able to eventually get on. Tried to send Tom a screen shot to the address contained in the error but it came back as "user unknown". Anyone else getting this problem? Tom - I still have the screen shot if you need it.
