| Powermac 7100/G4 Issues |
Posted by: System7 on 2008-12-23 15:58:23 Well...the Sonnet seems to be acting up, and I traced it to the orange ribbon that connects it to the AV Card.
Would a nubus card be a good replacement and a way around the issue?
Sonnet wants 20$ for a RIBBON.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2008-12-23 21:58:48 The PDS cards are faster then anything Nubus, but a Thunder/24 or somthing common like that should be decent in OS 7/8.
Maybe you can just resolder the loose connector (or is the cable ripped)?
Could it just be a bad PDS card?

Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2008-12-23 22:13:07 I think if you remove the logic board and power it up outside of the case, it is physically possible to insert your PDS video card directly into the sonnet card at a 90 degree angle, thus bypassing the ribbon. This would be a way to make absolutely sure that the problem is the ribbon.

Sonnet wants 20$ for a RIBBON. That's better than the $99 they used to want

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2008-12-23 22:16:16 I have a newertech 270? the ribbon doesn't come off the G3 but atleast I have the bracket for the PDS card in my 7100/66.

Posted by: System7 on 2008-12-24 10:49:29 It was the bracket that holds the PDS card in a nubus slot. It sends garbage down the nubus bus.....
I dont know how that is possible. Its a PCB with a nubus connecter slapped on.
