Power Macintosh 7200 and a G3
Posted by: System7 on 2008-12-19 19:42:52
Well the 2 hate eachother. System 7.6 hangs at happy mac. With any sonnet driver.

So I am trying to install OS 8. It hangs at "checking macintosh hd."

Any help?

I would like to use system 7 with the G3.

System 7 is compatible with the 7200 Sonnet card so try re-setting the CPU and RAM, if still no joy then try with the original CPU, if it still doesn't work then you could have a faulty card so call Sonnet on Monday.

Sounds like an extension conflict. Go into the extensions manager and turn off some third party extensions. Installing conflict catcher is the answer. I had to do that on a 9600.

I tried that......only extension was the sonnet enabler. And still a crash. Isnt that impressive?

Question: Is there a L2 Cache card, and if there is, have you tried removing it?

IT WORKS!!!!

It turns out my largest 2 DIMMS are incompatible.

So I only have 32mb RAM. Back to System 7!!!!
