Got a Key Lime iBook 366MHz with 192MB RAM, firewire, 10GB HD that sounds like a grinder, intermittent CDROM drive and battery, an IBM Intellistation that shuts down by itself soon after booting, which I suspect is a temperature issue, a hp w20 LCD that has backlight problems but otherwise works fine, and an Airport card in its original box which I haven't tested yet. I only paid $15 for the LCD and the rest followed!
Spent an hour and a half replacing the HD with a 40GB 5400rpm Hitachi Travelstar that I had lying around. This is the iBook after a cleanup with isopropyl alcohol, and after replacing the HD.

Nice. I have to say I am a fan of the Key Lime. But I only have Indigo, Blueberry and Tangerine iBooks. The hard drive in my Indigo is really loud too. Unfortunately I don't have a 2.5" IDE hard drive anywhere so I can't really do anything about it.

Nice, despite the fact that they're so loud, visually, the Key Lime iBook has always been one of my favorites. What's the battery life like? I bet it would be a cool answer to all of the netbooks in cafes today, if the battery life was decent, and you had either a minimalistic linux setup, or OSX with a bunch of ram. [😛] ]'>

Dunno about the CPU in the Key Lime, but I've installed OS X 10.3 on the original 300MHz iBook with 512MB of RAM, and while it's doable, it's not exactly a joy to use. It's a little more painful than I remember it being on my Beige G3/300, probably because of the smaller cache. The 800x600 screen doesn't help any.

adds key lime as an alternative to graphite. It replaces the 366 MHz G3 processor with the new G3e running at 466 MHz. The G3e includes an on-chip L2 cache that runs at full CPU speed for improved processor efficiency In which case, I say OS X all the way! That's 133MHz faster than the 'book I'm using right now.

I have an indigo 366 with 10.4 on it. It's a little sluggish, but I only have 320 mb in it. My understanding is they run quite well with 576 and a quick hard disk. Also you can mod it for 1024x768 without too much hasle.
