Nubus Cards and A/UX
Posted by: System7 on 2008-11-13 08:33:52
Well I have a Audiomedia II card, would that work in System 7 Enviroment in A/UX?

I don't think the extensions would work since the mac os section is emulated. Give it a try anyway.

Quite sure it won't.

Moving this into software - no LC or Performa series Macs support neither NuBus cards nor A/UX 😉

not exactly true... Performa 600 will do nubus and a/ux (granted the installation of an fpu)

regardless, no- a/ux's mac environment is a huge mess... one should consider it akin to classic/bluebox

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Performa 600 (which is really a Mac IIvx apart from the name anyhoo), still, apart from the Performa 600, neither A/UX nor NuBus is really relevant to any other LC or Performa.

... what about the Performa 6100!

Hmm, good point, but it needs a hard to find adaptor. 😉

I thought that neither the P600 (with FPU added) nor the IIvx (where the FPU come stock plus 32k cache) would do A/UX. Are you sure? Seen it working, anyone?

I managed to get a IIvx running A/UX by installing on a IIci then swapping the harddisk over to the IIvx and copying in the required System Enabler. I had to disable macgetty and run command line only because the Macintosh environment would hang.

So on a IIvx it was A/UX without the Macintosh interface. Perhaps if one threw in a toby card it may work but that's only a guess.
