Power Macintosh 8500
Posted by: thinkdifferent on 2008-11-02 09:48:11
While I was taking a bike ride the other day, I passed what looked like an old Windows computer. I payed no attention to it. But after a few minutes, I decided that I would go back and have a look, just out of curiosity. I was lucky to find a Power Macintosh 8500, complete with a moniter, keyboard, and mouse! I picked it up and carried it to one of my friends houses. There, we cleaned it off and I drove it home later. After turning it on, I realized it had some decent software installed, including Microsoft Office: Mac 2001, Adobe Photoshop 6, and Netscape Communicator 4.8. The computer runs OS 9.1, even though, according to Apple, I can't. This is just the second in my recently started collection of old Macintosh's, the other being a Powerbook 180.

Lucky you.

It's been longer than I can remember since I found any dumped Mac stuff. 🙁

I don't think I've ever found dumped Mac stuff. Just PC rubbish.

It's always worth having that second look 😀 Nicely scored

You can even update the software to OS 9.2.2 via "old world support". That is what my 8500 is running. Also you can check and see if the CPU was upgraded, which is possible since it was a relatively easy upgrade for people.

An 8500 you say?

Excellent.

I love mine.

That is all.
