Good Freeware CD Players for 7.1?
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2008-10-29 20:18:52
Since I'm using CD-ROM Toolkit on my LC, which includes CDT Remote, I am wondering if there's any way I can upgrade to a new CD Audio player that will run under 7.1. Were any that can display the title of the track released as freeware at any point? (I'd even take shareware as long as the fee wasn't too hefty).

If only Apple could have made a version of iTunes for the vintage OS...

AppleCD Player?

AppleCD Player?
The Apple CD-ROM driver download from their support area on the website only contains the driver itself, no AppleCD Audio Player.

Apple's audio cd player software started shipping with some version of system 7. From your post, I gather that 7.1 isn't among them, but I'm reasonably certain that 7.5.3 is, so give that a shot and see.

Added later: IIRC, it was on a disk/in a folder labeled "Extras."

Apple CD Audio Player is good, though one that I particularly like is CD Remote, which shipped with the AppleCD 150 and AppleCD 300. The interface is quite different to AppleCD Audio Player, but I rather like it. Feel free to shoot me a PM and I might be able to hook you up with a copy. (i'm fairly sure those disks are still good)
