Yup. it was posted on craig's list about 2 weeks ago, and I answered. The person only wanted $20 and she got like 15 emails about people wanting it, but no one came and got it

I got a SUPER deal on it. You will have seen that I got an external DVD burner too. This makes ALL my main machines have DVD Burners. including the powerMac G4. Plus I will have a spare!

I dropped it into the G4 on my SATA card on the PCI Slot (Sonnet 2-channel SATA 1.5GB) and it's running great. boots as well!

it's wicked fast too!

The CDs burn at 56x, the CD-RWs burn at 24x, the DVD-+R's burn at 16x, the DVD-+RW's burn at 8x, and the +DL burns at 6x (I guess there are no -DL discs or something... All i have been able to find is +R)

56x CD burn? ZOMG!

yeah. I guess it's sony's creme de' la' creme of the burners. it came out about 1.5 years ago. The person's computer board died and it was out of warranty, so they were just parting it out. I guess it was a custom made machine. The front of the sony drive looks damn snazzy. Kind of a glass-plate thing for the bezel with laser-etched labels into it with the model number. It's a dang nice drive. I was told by them that they spent like $70USD on it from a website they went to. Not bad? $50 off and only cost me 60 cents in gas!
