Tray-loading iMac G3
Posted by: slimac55 on 2008-10-11 17:36:27
I went to my local dump one day and I saw something that stood out above all the other beige boxes. It was a tray-loading iMac. I thought that it would be cool if it worked, so I brought it home for $5 and plugged it in with an Apple USB Keyboard and Mouse and powered it up. I heard a fan start and a hard drive whir up and then it chimed. It started booting into OS 9. The OS 9 install was broken and bombed each time I booted it, so I installed OS X 10.1 and now it's working fine. You can check out some photos I've taken of it on my Flickr photostream.

Ugh, Bondi Blue, never ever struck me as a good color choice. Nice find however. Welcome to the forums too.

Thanks for the welcome. One of my friends hates Bondi Blue (well all tray-loaders in general) as well and would much rather have one of the more transparent colours (e.g. graphite, ruby, sage, etc.).

Better way? Try selling PBG3 batteries for $10 and TAMs for $50; that'd be quite the entrance
