| even more minor haul |
Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-10-08 16:13:10 Went back to the local college and picked up an auto inject drive that works in my Quadra 660av (first drive that works!) and a AppleDesign 'board. Nothing major, but this does help, time to rig a ADB to USB cable!

time to rig a ADB to USB cable! I assume you're kidding, but on the slight chance you're not, DO NOT DO THAT.

Posted by: MrMacPlus on 2008-10-09 15:23:46 You assumed right. How much do ADB to USB cables cost?

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imate I use 10.4.11. :\ Quite sure mine works with 10.4. It works with everything else I've thrown it at.
It's a USB HID device. Not exactly rocket science.

Posted by: bsod on 2008-10-10 12:51:25 Oh, and by the way (sorry about hijacking this topic), does the iMate work with 10.5? I was thinking of getting one for my Intel iMac - I really like my Extended, wanted to use it instead of the tiny and uncomfortable Pro keyboard I have here 😛 .

I was thinking of getting one for my Intel iMac - I really like my Extended, wanted to use it instead of the tiny and uncomfortable Pro keyboard I have here 😛 . Can't see why it wouldn't. It Just Works with FreeBSD's standard USB HID driver. Unless Apple went out of their way to break it, it'll work.
I think what that page might mean is that the 1st party drivers don't work with >10.4, but you don't need them.

Posted by: John8520 on 2008-10-10 13:09:22 Seeing as the iMate is just a generic USB human interface device, yes, it will work with /anything/ that accepts USB input devices....
(including leopard...)

Posted by: paws on 2008-10-10 13:11:31 Come to think of it, it might not work with e.g. tablets, but an Extended II and mouse shouldn't pose a problem.

Posted by: John8520 on 2008-10-10 13:54:13 Their site says it works with all ADB devices provided you have drivers or some sort of support.

Posted by: bsod on 2008-10-10 14:07:17 Right, right 🙂 . Guess I'll have to clean the dust out of my Extened then 🙂 . I really love that keyboard! 😀

Their site says it works with all ADB devices provided you have drivers or some sort of support. Their site also says it doens't work with OS X versions newer than 10.3.9

Posted by: ~Coxy on 2008-10-12 22:24:40 I have an iMate that worked with 10.4 and 10.5 on a PowerMac G5, as well as in Windows.
