| Can IrDA be manually controlled? |
Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2008-10-01 10:44:41 Is it possible for me to use the IrDA port on my Pismo to send out custom signals, like remote control codes?

Is it possible for me to use the IrDA port on my Pismo to send out custom signals, like remote control codes? Presumably you need an IrDA Communications Toolbox Tool?

Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2008-10-02 06:17:25 You might need some sort of direct hardware access to do that because it isn't a typical serial signal. I really don't know where to start, though.
IrDA can also receive IR signals, so maybe you could "record" remote control codes and play them back.

you would have to use os 9 because it is disabled in osx Are you sure? I've never used it but I have IrDA options in Network system preferences and Internet Connect.

Does it appear as a separate port in the Serial Tool when you use a Communications Toolbox aware program, eg Claris Works?
