Version 1.0, the shrinkwrap was still on the box (albeit ripped open) and the floppy envelope was unopened (ditto for the manuals). It kinda reminded me of the first time I bought software for my first Mac. It was a shrinkwrapped copy of the then very obsolete ClarisWorks 1.0 for the Mac.
Only this time it is for Windows. }🙂 Just like the Mac version, it's tiny. Two high density floppies! Just like the Mac version, it is memory efficient (about 1 MB RAM used, if I'm reading XP's memory manager properly). Oh yeah, and it mostly installed under XP. It sorta konked out though when it was looking for c:\dos\doshelp.hlp. Go figure.
Now if only I had HyperCard for Windows (does such a beast even exist). The version of HyperStudio that I have is kinda bloated. 🙁

If I'm reading XP's memory manager properly. They still measure in KB's right?
| Posted by: II2II on 2008-09-22 09:41:02 Yeah, but memory use can be a complex thing in newer operating systems: yes you have memory that the program allocates for variables and code, but you also have memory that the system allocates for library code. Virtual memory will often procrastinate about allocating memory until it is needed, which sometimes means that it is never allocated at all. And, in this case, it isn't showing the memory allocation of the ClarisWorks process, but a parent process.
