Good Color Printer for OS 8.6
Posted by: Gil on 2008-09-14 10:41:24
I am using a Power Mac 5500/225 for business-related stuff. I dug out my Epson Color Stylus 740i that I got around 2004 or so, only to find out that the paper doesn't feed correctly. Not worth fixing, so I'd like to pick up a good, albeit inexpensive color printer for the Mac, that will run on OS 8.6

I actually have an HP DeskJet 6122, but I'm not sure if I want to invest in a USB PCI card at this point in time. So, any suggested printers have to have the DIN-8 and/or RJ-45 Ethernet connections.

Also, does anyone know of any All-In-Ones (Print/Copy/Scan/Fax) that work on OS 8.6, whether they are still in production or not? Any with DIN-8?

Thanks in advance.

I'd go for a Color StyleWriter 2400/2500 if you're looking for a DIN-8 printer. I don't know of any AIOs that work with DIN-8 off the top of my head.

If you've got access to USB at all I recommend the Canon i450. It's not an AIO but it's the best inkjet I've ever personally owned. It will work on 8.6 or later.

Cool, thanks. I actually found a way to get my USB DeskJet to work on the Mac, via a Linux host. But I UNIX-challenged, so it's impossible. Ink is insanely cheap for the StyleWriters, so that's a plus.
