| Freecycle Thinkpad and Windows XP |
Posted by: jkoci on 2008-09-10 12:15:11 Just picked up a Thinkpad i 1400 and XP Home on the original disk with an unused key code. The Thinkpad has a bad hard drive. It has a 300mhz Pentium MMX and 64 mb of ram in it. Once I get it up a running I'll put Windows 98se on it.

Limited USB support is/was its main weakness (tough to use those flash sticks), but thanks to "Maxim Decimus" we now have a nearly-universal driver. For download links, see http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/win98se-usb-mass-storage-drivers.php
I've yet to encounter a usb flash drive that does not work with this driver.

Too bad. It definitely is a step down in quality compared to the 760el I had.
