Pismo hinge
Posted by: didius on 2008-08-20 09:05:11
I ve bought a Pismo (500 mhz) on eBay, and it was sold broken.

At home I unplugged the pram battery, and then it booted fine. The Pismo is in great condition.

But the screen is somewhat loose. I opened up the case, and the left hinge seems to be broken.

Can this be fixed? Any recommandations?

cheers

Yeah it can with new hinges from places like powerbookguy.com.

Good luck on the Pismo.

I recently improvised a fix on a Pismo hinge (it was snapped off) by using a good 12" Wallstreet hinge from a broken LCD assembly. It required disassembly of both LCDs to extract the hinges, disassembly of the hinges (you can punch them apart with a hammer, a vice and a small nail), swapping half of the Wallstreet hinge onto what was left good on the Pismo hinge, and some very modest filing and drilling of the replacement hinge metal from the Wallstreet. If I recall correctly, the "lcd" part of the Wallstreet hinge went in the "cpu" portion of the Pismo. Worked perfectly, used scrap parts, and didn't cost me a bean.
