Mac 'word processor'
Posted by: Rodus on 2008-08-17 04:47:46
So I was having lunch with my aunt and uncle yesterday and we started talking about my mac collection. My aunt mentions that they have some sort of mac word processor in their linen cupboard thats been there for years. A bit more probing reveals that it is a keyboard with, she thinks, a fold up screen (they aren't very tech savvy) and I can have it if I want it (of course I do). Sounds like an old Apple laptop and as I was told it's very old I'm crossing fingers for a Luggable. Not very useful but a nice bit of computing history. Photos to follow soon.

If they definitely said "word processor" and not "laptop", i'm betting eMate! 😀

that would be pretty sweet but they think it could be from the late 80's or early 90's. To be honest I'll take anything (especially free) but I'd really rather it wasn't a 5300, I've had a couple in the past and both were truly terrible machines, nowt but problems.

As they are pretty clueless about computers I really could be getting anything but my aunt said she'd email me some piccies in the next couple of days.

Thank god I've now got the spare room to move my collection into [🙂] ]'>

What if it was a macintosh portable?

aka Luggable. Not sure what I'd do with it but it would be a nice addition.

Luggable is a generic, if somewhat slangy, term for machines like the Mac Portable, the Kaypro, the Osborne Executive, that are built with mostly desktop components, yet designed to be hauled from desk to desk. I have a Compaq Portable III for example.
