Posted by: vassilizaitsev on 2008-08-08 00:32:54 I want a drum machine, but don't know what to buy....
I got a "USB roll up drum machine"... it's pretty cack.... it just isn't responsive enough, when drumming at any speed it just dosn't catch all the hits I do!
What I think is that turning my computer (Mac in this case) into a drum machine would be cool.... so if some adb keyboard/joystick no, an adb drum pad? I could allways hack the usb drum pad & then wire it up to adb?
I would need somebody to write the software, anyone interested? at all?

Posted by: Bunsen on 2008-08-08 06:40:19 I like the idea of wiring up your pads to an ADB controller. Use one out of a keyboard. There's some MIDI programs around for pre-OS X that use the (alphanumerical) keyboard for input.
The other idea might be to use an ADB keyboard that is missing a few keys. Pull out all but a few of them and glue larger pads to the keytops!

Posted by: Bunsen on 2008-08-08 06:44:18 There's a couple of just drum pads MIDI controllers - one from Akai and one from another maker, maybe M-Audio? Anyway, if you're determined to use it on an older Mac, you can get a serial Mac MIDI converter for not much money. Then your pads will work with any MIDI software from the era.
