Radius Haul: Pivot Interface Card & PowerView
Posted by: olePigeon on 2015-03-03 15:40:09 Found both of these at my local recycler on my way home. Both are brand new, still shrink wrapped. A Pivot Interface Card, and more interestingly, a PowerView. It's a color interface adapter for the SCSI port. Says it's built for PowerBook, but it'll work on any Mac with Color QuickDraw & SCSI port.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2015-03-03 16:11:18 Unboxing pix. Some interesting discoloration of the device itself. I think the plastic wrapper had a chemical reaction with the PowerView box. I see this on occasion, especially with rubber feats and styrofoam. I guess they're not expected to sit unopened for 20+ years. Manual says it supports 256 colors @ 832x624. It says it'll do millions colors with some special monitor & 32-bit Color QuickDraw. Screen size and color depth seem to be limited to available memory. I think I'll test it on my IIci, which has both 32-bit Color QuickDraw and 128MBs of RAM.

Must have been sitting in someone's closet, never used, they cleaned their closet finally, found it and said "Wow... Talk about useless" and gave it to the recycler, having no idea what they had on their hands.

I have a bunch of it on display in my office - shrinkwrapped IBM DOS, NuDesign Hardcard 420mb, Pentium 233, and a few others. I had or have a Pivot card for the SE/30 as well - think it had to be used with a specific monitor and now I'm not sure what I did with the card.
Posted by: Paralel on 2016-01-07 03:48:23 Yep, the monitor had a hardware switch that indicated if it was in portrait or landscape mode and was actuated by moving the tube position.
