| Mac OS Appearance Themes |
Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2008-07-25 23:26:02 Somebody here might be interested. Remember Kaleidoscope? There was a built-in version of this made by Apple in Mac OS 8.5 - 9.2.2. There were very few themes ever made for this, and only a couple were ever useable. I made 5 themes through years of hacking long ago. You can find them here:
http://www.d.umn.edu/~bold0070/spymac_mirror/projects/themes.html
These were made using Resorcerer + templates, Graphic Converter (for 'ppat'), and a program called "Pixie" (for 'pxm#'). I learned a great deal about hacking stuff while working on these.

They look great! I will check them out on the 'ol 8600 later on tonight.

Posted by: paws on 2008-07-26 03:27:37 I like Moby a lot, except for the menubar.
Great work, and thanks for the theme hacking docs.

Great work, and thanks for the theme hacking docs. People are sometimes surprised how complicated the documentation is. What don't you like about the menu bar? It's simple enough to be changed in a short amount of time. If you have some suggestions, I'll see what I can do.

Posted by: Dennis Nedry on 2008-07-26 21:19:53 COOL! Someone other than me working on a theme! Let me know if you need any help. I can't remember exactly how I made the menu bar in that theme. It may be based on 'pxm#' or 'frme'. If it's 'pxm#', editing should be fairly easy, but 'frme' may require some re-organization.
If you need to view 'pxm#' to see what you need to modify, let me know. There are a couple good ways to do that. The image dumps are in raw format.
