Freecycle Conquest: HP LaserJet
Posted by: kissmyash933 on 2008-07-06 10:44:10
last night someone put up a laserjet, on freecycle. i got it! i got it home and set it all up. this thing is huge, and looks a little overkill for our household but i hope it lasts a long time!

It's a LaserJet 5n model, so it has a JetDirect card in it, which is great so everyone in the house can print to it.

I hear these are pretty reliable printers! 😀

Blake.

[😀] ]'> Don't let it run all day, or your power provider will send a platin card for beeing such a big customer.

I did something similar last summer - I purchased an HP LaserJet 4050 with all the options - extra tray, duplexer, network card, and toner. It cost me about $35. The toner has been at less than 20% for a year now, even with 4 people printing to it daily. Everyone loves being able to print to it, and not have to screw around with the Epson inkjets we used to have.

Congrats on a great conquest!

Wow! My school had that one for since I remember (I have been at that school for 9-10 years). It was replaced last year with a newer one. Still, when it had toner and enough paper, it was a TANK! I would pick one up if I saw one in a heartbeat!

I got a HP 4SI on freecycle last year, added some more RAM and it flies. The problem with mine is it is heavy as hell and with the 2 side paper trays takes up a bunch of floor space. I don't let it run all day either, just when I have a print job ready for it in the lab (I have a NEC laser in my room too).

Yeah I picked up an HP laserjet 4050 on eBay for local pickup only....cost me $30

It had 2 paper trays, network, and a ram upgrade.

This things are sooo much better than inkjets. I've been using the toner that it came with and it has lasted over a year! Great deal!

By the way, the #27 is the standard cart for the 4050, and the #27x is high-capacity, and it's a better buy in the long run.

I'm selling a 5000N for work. I hope I get more for it than you paid 🙂
