| 9 on a Quadra? |

Someone here a while ago made a post in an unrelated thread about having 9 running on a PPC upgraded Quadra and then disappeared. I have seen articles about getting 8.5 and 8.6 running on a Quadra, but never about installing 9. Has anyone managed to get 9 running on a PPC upgraded Quadra and how did you do it?

I can imagine it would be doable by installing Wish I Were, and changing the Getstalt ID to that of a similar PowerMac. (For example, LC475/Quadra 605 and 610 series Macs use Power Mac 6100, 650 series Macs use PM7100, Q800s use PM8100, 900's and 950's use WGS 9150)

I tried to run 9.1 on Q650 w/ PowerPro w/o success.
If anyone accomplishes it. please let me know.

I'm running 8.6 on my PPC Quadra 650.
My experiences;
Using a utility to change the gestalt id of your mac will get it to install, but it will not boot without doing some resedit hacking of the system file.

I do run Mac OS 8.6 on my Q650 but the above link says It is possible to run 9.1 which I could not do so far. I can accept 9.0.4 though.

i had 9.1 on my PPC650quadra.
it runs a bit unstable. only succesfully boots one out of two times 😉
i have 8.6 on there and its rock solid. (if a bit slow but thats ok)
