I had a Radeon 7000 PCI 32MB that I had been trying to get to work, a USB 1.1 card that was old and I threw in it, and an ethernet card that didn't work, but was supposed to.
No matter what i did, i couldn't get it to recognize it. The only thing I could get to recognize was the original video card (XCLAIM 2MB) that came with the machine. I sat down and pondered and looked over the cards until something came to me as I was inspecting the slot edges and components.
They all had a little bit of worn dirt in it (like over time it builds up). So I quickly grabbed an erasure and cleaned off as much as I could. All I had left was the gold contacts shiny and bright. I popped them into the machine and low-and-behold, THEY WORK!
So this is a little bit of a tip. If you have a PCI Card that refuses to work, the first thing to do, it take an eraser and get the dirt off the slot. That should fix any dirt problems you have 😀
Good Luck!
| Posted by: benjgvps on 2008-06-25 15:43:13 Thanks for the tip! I also am an owner of a Radeon 7000... I was overcharged for it though paid for it... I was on my etower at the time and I needed something to work with my shiny new 19 inch wide screen LCD. Great card though!
| Posted by: Christopher on 2008-06-25 20:02:06 I have had issues with the video cards that have the ADC power slot that plugs in, make that is pushed in on your G4's if video doesn't work because I have had instances where that whole back panel the cards screw onto bend slightly and loosen the cards.
