i have the lime ibook running but it will not connect to my dlink 2310.

1 even turned off the security for a while?

how do you know the airport card is working?

Does the DLink need a password? If it does, try typing a $ before the password. That sometimes works.

Have you set up the ibook to connect with airport (instead of, say, ethernet or modem)? DHCP selected?

yes i went in and made sue the airport was selected and even turned off all the security on my dlink router. nothing .

how can you tell if the airport card is working?

If it's working you should see this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3212/2617623548_c853957170_o.png

it would be grayed a bit if your not connected to a network.

i know it is not connected

it acts like is is trying to connect and then sayed that it can not connect

my dlink does not show up in thew list of networks

should it be set to any thing special?

It's not showing up et al? no "DLINK" or anything?

Posted by: madmann on 2008-06-29 20:29:36
that is correct nothing at all

this sucks the card must be bad

Before you give up, check the simple things: Is the card securely seated? Is the antenna connector actually plugged into the card? I've run into several cases where the connector was a bit loose. It looked ok, but wasn't.

Make sure that the Airport on/off option is set to on.

Reinstall the Airport software, just in case it got mangled somehow along the way.

question: what OS are you running? what about you d-link? is it set to work with 802.11b? or is is a/g only? A lot of times, a poorly configured router can cause it not to be picked up, mainly because someone sets it to support the faster speeds, and drop the slower 11b standard.
