Posted by: equill on 2008-06-27 22:03:19 Belkin USB cards have been fingered in various forums as unreliable in Beige (Old World) Macs. You have used OS9Helper to get 9.2.2 on your 7600, which is why the Old World Support 1.0.1 appears in your splash screen at startup. See whether another (any other) brand of card gives you joy, but also make sure that you have the latest software from Apple, either separately installed or as part of OS 9.2.2.
The card may have needed to be already in place for OS 9.2.2 Installer to 'see' it and install the half-dozen extensions (and CP) needed. You can use ASP or Extensions Manager to see what USB software is installed at the moment.

Posted by: madmann on 2008-07-05 08:50:38 the apple system profile shows the usb card with 4 ports 1.5.5 usb bus 0
yet I have installed a mouse and a modem and they bo not show up is shows nothing connected
i have tried the restart etc. nothing. The optical mouse does not even power the led
does any one have a card recommendation

Posted by: equill on 2008-07-13 07:07:54 Find one that is, as LCGuy recommended, stated as being OHCI-compliant, and also stated as using a NEC chip rather than any of the several alternatives. Look for pictures of the card in the ad. or catalogue. Don't be overwhelmed by the claim of six ports rather than these two essentials. Then, with the appropriate software in place, you should be home and hosed.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2008-07-13 11:39:07 OS 9 won't automatically support USB cards. As equill points out, you need to install support software for them.

Posted by: madmann on 2008-07-13 20:28:59 the card is manufactued by Double H their web site states that the card will work with
win 98se 200 and xp
mac os 8.6.1 greater
after further testing!
with the card installed I installed 9.1 on a second partition.
i switched the devices to the bottom ports and it now shows up in the system profiler. but the devise ie usb modem is listed for all 4 ports. the card must be dead.
could i have a pci bus issue?
