PPC Mac Games?

What are some good 3D games for PPC?

I had Unreal 2k4 for awhile and that was okay, but I'm more into adventure games and whatnot, and especially survival horror.

I just started into the demo for Penumbra: Black Plague and it seems kind of cool and creepy.

The only other game I have played on PPC was Tomb Raider II, and the graphics are kind of blah. I'm thinking about maybe getting Doom III or Deus Ex...

Does anybody know how well Deus Ex runs in Classic Mode? (I use that one G4 that can't boot OS9) 🙁

I tried running Tomb Raider II in Classic Mode and it lagged so hard that it actually ran better natively in OS9 on my beige G3.

Is there a way to squeeze performance out of Classic Mode for old games?

For reference, my system is a FW800 MDD G4, dual 1.44ghz w/ 128mb vid card and 2gb ram.

Boot into OS 9, OS X takes most of the power so that could be why the speed is bad.

The FW 800 MDD can't boot into OS 9.

World of Warcraft. You can play it for free if you know where to look for a server. 😛

Yeah I know ;D

Hmm, I can't think of any recent creepy adventure games that work on a PPC Mac. Older titles that fit into that category are Rune (OS9), Sin (OS9), Alice (OS9/OSX) and Klingon Honor Guard (OS9), Dark Vengeance (OS9), Heavy Metal FAKK2 (OS9) and Quake III (OS9). Most of these work in Classic, at a slightly slower speed. Check out the reviews here http://www.insidemacgames.com/

I forgot about Alice. I had always meant to get that one, but never got around to it.

So I've been playing Doom III for a few days and it runs pretty well in lower resolutions. It seems pretty average to me as far as shooters go, but I really don't have much choice on this platform, I suppose. It's good enough for me though, and it's sufficiently creepy. 😀

Deus Ex seems to do a lot better than TR2 did in Classic Mode, with almost no slowdown at all. I forgot how cool this game was, although I remember the graphics being better on the PS2 version.

Does anyone here play any 3D games via VPC on PPC Macs?

I'm trying to figure out if I can run Guild Wars via VPC, since the system requirements are about half of what I'm currently running.

800mhz PIII, 256mb ram, 32mb vram.

What do you think?

I could just go ahead and install it all and try myself, but if it's totally futile then I don't see any point in wasting my time with it. I've never really used VPC even though I have a copy, and I don't really know how the 3D performance is..

Nevermind... after some Googling, I've come to realize how bad of an idea that probably is.
