| NetPliance i-Opener |
Posted by: Cory5412 on 2008-05-07 18:08:57 Greetings fellow connosuers of retro technology!
I'm posting this message at work from my latest conquest, a Netpliance i-Opener. It's an interesting little device. I'm still runnin the original firmware on it, but I intend to try the HDD mod at some point in time, I intend to try BeOS 5 or Windows 95/NT4 on it, or Linux.
The other cool thin is that I'm writing this message on the iOpener. It goes to google, but I haven't been able to get to NAU's webmail or gmail with it, or any other sites with mail functionalit.

Yeah...I remember hearing back in the day about people buying them to put either Linux or 98 on. Looks like a neat little device, really.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2008-05-13 21:46:41 I was going to buy one new at circuit city to hack it when I heard about them. The units were sold below cost and the price was subsidized by the email service but I think circuitcity allowed you to buy it without the service so you could rig up a cheap PC. The screen was crap so I never bothered.
