With a new Power Mac G4 Server.

Here's the Specs:

PowerMacintosh G4 Server

Dual 1GHz

DVD Burner

Zip 250

nVIDIA GeForce

1.5 GB Ram

200GB Hard Drive - Master

120GB Hard Drive - Slave

SCSI Card

USB 2.0 Card

All I can say is :O

I'm Going to setup the Drives in a RAID 0 and throw Leopard on here.

Anyone know of any way that i can flash my AGP Geforce 5200FX from my PC to work with this mac, it has a little more ram than the 32 mb. that comes with this quicksilver.

😀

Sweet box you got there.

I wish I knew how to flash that card for you as it would be a huge increase in speed.

Temetka, I Think I am getting there, i just have to find a PCI video card for my PC so i can flash it.

my next problem is getting my Envy24 5.1 Sound card to work. That might not be so easy.

That's the site i found to do it! thank you very much!

Also, Screenshots and Pictures once i get this thing up and running.

I'm setting it up as my main computer.

my PC was more powerful, but i like this one better. I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of speed for the luxuries of using a mac.

setting the drives up in a stripe RAID would be an utter waste. you'd essentially reduce the total capacity from 320GB to 240GB.

That is an excellent conquest though, grats 🙂

oh, and on the sound card you might try out drivers from m-audio's Revolution 5.1 sound card series, they are based on the Envy24 chipset. you can find the latest driver for it here. Its from 2005, but it worked for me up until i upgraded to leopard in my digital audio.

Dan, I ended up not setting them up in a RAID, I installed it once like that and noticed the computer was a little laggish. so i reinstalled leo and now everything works great 😀

I tried the revolution drivers, but they didnt work, which is kind of sad, because i really like his card. and i would hate to be stuck with two-channel audio. Or worse, Dolby Pro Logic X|

thanks for the advice dan!

Temetka, Yes, I really am having fun right now. It's a little bit slower than my PC, but for free i have no room to complain.

I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad i have a Mac thats expandable, I love my eMac 1GHz, but i cant really upgrade it.

Pictures and screenies soon!

hehe, big brother was an inside joke between my cousin and I. It's actually the SmarterChild Robot. We named it big brother because I could ask it just about anything and it would give me an answer, so - big brother; because big bro. knows everything!

Holy calamari, batman! Love the wallpaper. 🙂

(Yes, I know calamari is squid, but it wouldn't have sounded as interesting had I said "Holy octopus." 😛 )

The MLA demands a link to that wallpaper soldier. 😉

Dual 1GHz G4's is still an awesome machine. All my Macs are single core. I'd love a dual core box. OS X is just butter on a properly configured dual G4 box and really highlights just what a great chip the G4 still is.

I really loved the G4 and wished it had continued on. Then again I also really loved the 604. In my book both are beefy enough CPU's to be considered both exotic and very efficient designs. I miss those days of exotic high end CPU's appearing on the scene and Apple jumping all over them.

Damn you Moto! Damn you to hell!
