Iici no display
Posted by: stephenwhite on 2015-02-17 21:04:33
I just had my iici motherboard recapped and it looks beautiful! The problem is, I can't get it to display anything. I have bank A full of Ram. I am using a db15-VGA adaptor, and it has a switch on it that says VGA on one side and 21" Multi on the other. Below that are a bunch of resolutions including 640x480. I am using an 18" LCD TV for a display. Nothing will display when the switch is in either position. I know the board tested fine after the recap, but I have had no luck. Any thoughts?

Got another lcd? I've got 3.. only one works on my IIci's onboard adapter.. annoying as it is. 🙁

You need to set the adapter for 640X480 with H-Sync, V-Sync and Sync On Green on.

Then you will have a 50/50 chance of getting one of the monitors to work.

If you want a higher resolution, you need to put in a video card into the IIci.

What Elfen said.  The built-in video out on the IIci and IIsi were persnickety things which didn't even work with one of Apple's monitors (The Apple Basic Color Display).

Any suggestions for a video card?

I know that the revision B of my 8•24 gc with my IIci works with my vga 17' Lenovo lcd screen with the db-15 - vga adapter. The only resolution that works is 832x624. The revision A won't work as it doesn't support 832x624. I don't know if this is helpful as i don't have any idea about where to find an 8•24 gc.

I've found it's more to do with the LCD than the video card.  Some LCDs only work at 60Hz, others will work at different frequencies.

Its the adaptor, also mine does the same thing, you need an Apple DB15 display, or you need a monitor like the Dell 1907FB, which supports Sync on Green (SoG) and very strange resolutions
